Extended bio:
LE Francis (she/her) is a writer, visual artist, & musician living in the pacific northwest. She is a former arts journalist & the current managing editor of Sage Cigarettes Magazine. She is a co-host & editor of the Ghost in the Magazine podcast. Find her online at nocturnical.com.
I do things:
I’m the managing editor at Sage Cigarettes Magazine. I also write a music discussion & review column called Verses on Verses. The theme is discussing music from a poet’s point of view.
I’m a cohost & audio/video editor at A Ghost in the Magazine, a horror movie review podcast; & The Annegirls Podcast, an Anne Rice book club podcast. I also make content for our Tik Tok account.
I’m also the nerd responsible for the magazine & podcast websites so if you see any problems hit me up.
I write flash & poetry under the name LE Francis. I write genre fiction under other pen names. My genre fiction ranges from dark sci-fi to paranormal romance.
I draw, paint, & make paper-crafts & I’m working on finding ways to share that more online. Here are some of my digital drawings. Some are available on t-shirts & stickers. I am available to design books, book covers, & other digital projects on a very limited basis. Contact me for more information.
I’m a former choir kid & was in bands throughout most of my late teens & early 20s & used to organize local shows. I currently play bass & sing in an indie/shoegaze project. We are working on a five song demo that we hope to have done by the end of 2023. I also sang a small part on A Stagnant Motion’s track Angola & you can find some of my goofy jingles on my Instagram.
I used to work as a features writer, & later, an arts & entertainment editor at a newspaper. I spent most of my 20s talking to musicians in bars about their creative processes & the socioeconomic reality of creative jobs/careers. I learned that success is relative & taking yourself seriously is fucking miserable. Take your work seriously, but never yourself. The most miserable people I’ve ever met have been focused on being seen as important or brilliant. The most important thing is to create the things you want to see in the world & refuse to spend any time worrying about the impact or financial/popular viability of anything you do.
Junk psychology:
I’m a 12h gemini sun, 4h libra moon, w cancer rising. Astrology is a complex language of archetypes & symbolism & the complexity makes it flexible. There are facets to every sign & house that can explain most psychological quirks but for real for real: I’m a fucking scattered creative mess that believes deep down that everything is beautiful & art is the way we become closer to the universe, to the root of what it is to be human; & I’m a ride-or-die sweetheart of a friend who will love you unconditionally regardless if we don’t talk for months or I have to talk you off the ledge daily, so I guess I kinda fit the archetypes.
I’d be an enneagram 4w5 & I’m supposedly an INFJ like everyone else on the internet.
I took a cryptid quiz once & it said I was some sea monster thing & fair but I argue that I’m more of a bigfoot. I have lots of hair, live in the pacific northwest, & may have ties to extraterrestrials.
